the relief of sickness generally in winchester and central hampshire and in particular but so as to limit the generality of the foregoing for the following purposes:- a) to identify those people in the community who are at risk from developing cancer of the large bowel by the provision of suitable screening programmes b) to evaluate new imaging techniques so that treatment may be planned more successfully c) to study operating techniques so that these can be made safer and quicker d) to investigate ways of treating advanced cancer where an operation cannot be expected to succeed e) to study intestinal cancers in the laboratory so that more can be learnt about their behaviour f) to initiate carry on or otherwise support research into the treatment of persons suffering from or at risk from cancer of the large bowel and to publish the useful results thereof
