to relieve old age,suffering,hardship and distress among; 1)any person retired from service in the n.h.s.in area of benefit. 2)any person retired from service in area of benefit,in any of the related health service organisations or caring professions prior to the n.h.s.acts of 1946,1973 1977 and 1990 and any subsequent reorganisation and the n.h.s.(scotland) acts of 1947 and 1978 and any subsequent reorganisation. 3)any person who is the wife,husband,widow,widower or other dependant of the above.
