(i)the undertaking and promotion of research and the acquisition of knowledge on all scientific,social,commercial or conservation aspects of plants with special emphasis on the plant family leguminosae including without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing:-(a)a particular focus on the use of these plants for foods and plant products for the alleviation of poverty amongst the peoples of the arid zones and the humid tropics and (b)a particular focus on the conservation of biological diversity among these plants for the public benefit.(ii)the provision for the public benefit of communication and information services to enable co-ordination,communication and pooling of the research,results and knowledge for plants with special emphasis on the plant family leguminosae throughout the world.(iii)the dissemination of knowledge and the provision of education to the public throughout the world concerning plants with special emphasis on the plant family leguminosae.
