to apply the income for the advancement and education of young people through the promotion of activities which will teach self reliance, initiative and mutual co-operation in any of the following ways, namely:-a) in making grants to the army cadet force association (charity no. 305962) or other registered charities for the funding of expeditions, adventure or other training in self reliance and co-operation with others for members of the army cadet force or other young persons of similar age.b) in making grants for the purpose of funding expeditions, adventure or other training or other activities which, in the opinion of the trustees, will promote self reliance and co-operation with others for members of the army cadet force or other young people whom the trustees may in their absolute discretion select.c) in making grants for any other charitable purposes (as defined by law) provided always that grants made as aforesaid shall not be applied in relief of expenditure properly met out of public funds.
