a.to promote the study of ornamental horticulture.b.to provide financial assistance to one or more students at pershore college of horticulture and who are in need of such assistance as otherwise they would not be able to further their educational ambitions.c.to promote excellence in ornamental horticulture (but without prejudice to the generality of the above) by awarding an annual prize to the j.robert bent memorial fund student at pershore college of horticulture if in the opinion of the trustees the nominated student is judged to be worthy of receiving such a prize.
