the trustees shall pay or apply the income of the trust fund and may also transfer pay or apply the whole or any part or parts of the capital of the trust fund to such charities or for such charitable purposes as the trustees shall from time to time in their absolute and uncontrolled discretion think fit provided always that that until the expiration of the period of twenty-one years from the date hereof the trustees may in their discretion instead of paying or applying the income of the trust fund as aforesaid accumulate the same or any part thereof in the way of compound interest by investing the same in or upon any investments as part of the capital of the trust fund.
