[1] the trustees shall stand possessed of the trust fund and the income thereof upon trust to apply the same (without distinction between capital and income) for any charitable purposes for the the general benefit of the inhabitants of the town of thaxted as the trustees shall think fit. [2] notwithstanding anything hereinafter in this clause contained the trustees shall at any time and from time to time be entitled to apply all or any of the capital or income of the trust fund to or for such other charitable objects or purposes as they shall in their absolute discretion from time to time think fit.
