to assist the parochial church council, the vicar and churchwardens, the church commissioners and other competent persons and bodies and authorities to do all or any of the following:-(a) the maintenance and propagation of the doctrines and practice of the church of england by spiritual teaching and/or by pastoral or missionary work within and without the parish; (b) to preserve the fabric (including bells clock and organ) of the buildings by repairing maintaining rebuilding improving and redecorating the same and contributing to the repair maintenance rebuilding improvement and redecoration thereof; (c) to provide repair renew and maintain and contribute to the provision repair renewal and maintenance of the furnishings books vestments and ornaments of the buildings to better equip and preserve them for the sustenance advancement and promotion of the christian faith and religion within and without the parish; (d) for such ecclesiastical purposes which are charitable within the parish.
