the objects of the company are to advance the education of the public in the north west region of england (hereinafter referred to as the area of benefit) by:a) promoting the effective working of all public, academic and other libraries which operate in the area of benefit;b) promoting or assisting in the promotion of and co-operation between libraries and related organisations within the area of benefit and nationally within the united kingdom;c) taking a lead in the strategic planning and development of libraries within the area of benefit;d) contributing to both the development and public awareness of a cultural strategy and the active involvement of the library sector in the promotion of the cultural heritage of the area of benefit;e) liasing with governmental, regional and other organisations in order to co-ordinate the planning, work and marketing of libraries and library services within the area of benefit;f) liasing with representatives of other related disciplines, particularly archives and museums, and furthering integration and joint working where appropriate within the area of benefit
