"the objects for which the society is established:-a) to establish and maintain for the benefit of the public, a tramway and transport museum and for the like purpose, to promote the permanent preservation of tramway and associated vehicles of general interest or equipment or any other items of transport interest or of actual or potential historical or scientific importance of educational value with particular reference to items having a connection with the area comprised within the country of merseyside.b) to take over and hold the whole or any part of the undertaking and the real and personal property of, and to take over and undertake the performance and discharge of all or any of the liabilities of, and ( so far as the same is not inconsistent with any other provision of this memorandum) to continue to carry on the work heretofore carried on by the existing unincorporated society known as the ""merseyside tramway preservation society"" which was founded in the year 1960."
