"to award scholarships, exhibitions, bursaries or maintenance allowances tenable at any school, university or other educational establishment approved by the trustees to persons over the age of 18 years who are resident in the united kingdom and who may be deterred or prevented from continuing with their education without financial assistance from the charity with sympathetic consideration being given to those persons who are resident in the regions specified in clause 2.4 below (""the specified regions"")to provide financial assistance, outfits, clothing, tools, instruments or books to such persons on leaving university or any other educational establishment to prepare them for or assist their entry into a trade, profession or serviceto award to such persons grants or maintenance allowances to enable them to travel whether in the united kingdom or abroad in furtherance of their educationto otherwise further the education of such personsto award financial assistance to persons who are resident in the united kingdom (with sympathetic consideration being given to those who are resident in the specified regions) and who are in need of financial assistance towards the costs and expenses of a holiday or such other break or recreational activity either:-to assist them whilst suffering with an illness or from a disability or to assist them to recuperate following an illness, an operation or recovery from a disability, orto assist other persons who act as carers for a person who is suffering or recuperating from an illness, an operation or from a disability.such other charitable object or objects in any part of the world as the trustees shall in their absolute discretion think fit to support or establishthe specified regions referred to above are:-east angliayorkshirelancashirelondonteeside, tyne and wear and northumberland."
