Objects:

the charity’s objects are, for the benefit of the public and in particular the inhabitants of the borough of scarborough and its surrounding areas:4.1 to advance public education in particular (but not exclusively) by the establishment, maintenance, and provision of one or more museums, art galleries or other educational facilities or resources in the borough of scarborough.4.2 to advance education in natural sciences, archaeology, history, decorative and fine arts, antiquities, crafts, creative and cultural industries, architecture, the local environment, and other disciplines, in particular (but not exclusively) by:4.2.1 the establishment, maintenance, and provision of one or more museums, art galleries or other educational institutions in the borough of scarborough.4.2.2 promoting and encouraging research (and disseminating its useful results);4.2.3 promoting the preservation and display of, and access to, the items, groupings, displays and collections.4.3 to promote the preservation and conservation of the built and natural environment, in particular (but not exclusively) by acquiring, renovating, redeveloping, maintaining, managing, and providing use of and access to land, buildings, structures and sites of historical, architectural or environmental importance in the borough of scarborough and encouraging high standards of architecture, landscape design and town planning within the borough of scarborough.4.4 to promote the urban and rural regeneration in areas of social and economic deprivation and in particular the borough of scarborough and its surrounding areas by any or all of the following means:4.4.1 the promotion of education, training and retraining and work experience opportunities in areas of disadvantage in particular (but not exclusively) by providing or assisting in the provision of programmes in the creative and cultural industries.4.4.2 the provision of financial assistance, technical assistance, or business advice in order to provide training and employment opportunities in particular (but not exclusively) in the creative and cultural industries for people and communities disadvantaged by virtue of poverty, financial hardship, educational attainment, or any other barriers to accessing training and employment.4.4.3 the creation of training and employment opportunities by the provision of land, buildings, workspace, and other facilities for use by charities, voluntary organisations, individuals, companies, and other organisations, in particular (but not exclusively) those involved in the creative and cultural industries.4.4.4 the provision, maintenance, development and improvement of public facilities and amenities and providing expert advice or consultation in relation to such matters.4.4.5 the preservation, conservation, development and improvement of land, buildings, structures, or sites of historical, architectural, or environmental importance and providing expert advice or consultation in relation to such matters.4.4.6 the provision of recreational facilities for the public at large or for those who by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances have need of such facilities.4.4.7 such other means as the trustees may from time to time decide.4.5 to further such other charitable purpose or purposes beneficial to the community consistent with, or ancillary to, the above objects as the trustees shall in their absolute discretion determine from time to time.
