3.1 to promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical natural and built environment of the town of newmarket and the surrounding area, and conserve for the benefit of the public, palace house, palace house mews, and palace house stables3.2 to provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their conditions of life3.3 to advance the education of the public3.3.1 the operation of the modern horseracing industry and in particular the conduct of horseracing in newmarket and the surrounding area3.3.2 the history and heritage of the town of newmarket and its surrounding area, and in particular newmarket's place in the sport of horseracing3.3.3 animal welfare in the horseracing industry, and in particular the prevention of cruelty and suffering amongst racehorses3.3.4 the history of horseracing and, in particular, the history of horseracing in newmarket and the surrounding area3.3.5 the breeding use and management of thoroughbred and non-thoroughbred horses and other livestock associated with the horseracing industry3.3.6 to further any charitable purpose for the benefit of those who live or work in the town of newmarket and the surrounding area and for those who are connected with the horseracing industry, as the trustees think fit.
