the provision of grants and loans to charitable independent schools to provide a capital fund to be known as the ella mary merchant trust fund the capital to remain intact and the annual income from the capital applied to award grants to women and men of limited means being residents of the city of bristol or of the area of radius ten miles from the bristol city centre such women and men being alone responsible for the care of elderly or infirm relatives at home and in particular i direct that priority in the awarding of such grants shall be directed to women rather than men and i further direct that such grants shall be applied primarily towards:- [a] financing short term breaks from caring [b] financing nursing services in lieu of the carer's nursing care during the absence of [c] financing the rehabilitation needs of the carer after the death of the infirm relative. to advance such purposes as are charitable under the laws of england and wales. (1) the relief of persons resident in the city of bristol who are in need, hardship or distress.(2) the trustee may relieve persons in need by:(a) making grants of money to them; or(b) providing or paying for goods, services or facilities for them; or(c) making grants of money to other persons of bodies who provide goods' services or facilities to those in need.(3) in exceptional cases the trustee may decide to assist someone (who is otherwise qualified)who is:(a) resident outside the city of bristol; or(b) only temporarily resident in the city of bristol. for payment to rector of st. stephen's church, bristol 1. income distributed to certain named non-educational institutions or the survivors thereof. (the bristol stranger' friend society is the only non-educational charity) income in augmentation of municipal almshouse charities. 5/6ths of net income to bristol grammar school. 1/6th of net income to municipal almshouse charities. primary object of providing homes for persons in need, no longer applicable following establishment of perrett's almshouse. application of income now at discretion of trustees in support of any almshouse charity or other charity under their control. income to be distributed between:- various churches and incumbents for annuities and for sermons. the gray's inn lane educational foundation. dr thomas white's temple hospital, bristol. income distributed between temple hospital, bristol and thomas white's marriage portions charity. income distributed between certain named almshouses and other bodies. distribution of bibles to residents or to places of worship or institutions in bristol. upkeep and maintenance of soldier's graves and a 1924-18 war memorial in arnos vale cemetery, known as the soldiers' corner. 4. object of the charity(1) the object of the charity is the relief of persons in need in the area of benefit who are sick, disabled, convalescent or infirm by relieving their suffering or assisting their recovery.(2) the trustee may, in exceptional circumstances, assist a person who lives outside the area of benefit but is otherwise qualified. a record must be kept of the nature of the exceptional circumstances justifying the relief of persons outside the area of benefit. (1) the object of the charity is to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the conditions of life for persons who by reason of their age, infirmity or disablement, poverty or social or economic circumstances have need of such facilities.(2) the trustees must use the income (and may use the capital) of the charity in promoting the objects. charitable purposes in connection with the wesley memorial church, bryant's hill, st george, bristol the object of this institution is the delivery of poor married women at their own homes, and to grant relief in cases of childbirth, in cases of emergency or serious or sudden illness or for the relief of sick or needy women and children, this relief in every case being confined to women and children, as their circumstances may require and the funds of the institution admit of. distribution of coal to deserving poor persons in the district of bryants hill. to assist students by means of grants, scholarships and bursaries to attend schools and universities or other educational institutions or classes in the city and diocese of bristol or elsewhere. also, in or towards the making of grants for the purpose of religious instruction in poor parishes in the city and diocese of bristol and elsewhere, and for the purpose of secular education in church schools in the same area. three twelfths of net income to be applied for the support, in each case, of queen elizabeth's hospital and red maid's school. the trustees shall apply the clear income of the charity in making grants or annuities to teachers or persons who at any time have been employed as teachers in any form of education who are in financial need. the provision of almshouses qualifications of almspeople. – the almspeople shall be poor persons resident in the city of bristol at the time of appointment. the trustees may, in exceptional circumstances, appoint a resident who lives outside the area of benefit but is otherwise qualified. a record must be kept of the nature of the exceptional circumstances justifying the appointment. the number of residents appointed under this clause must not exceed one-third of the number of residents at any one time. see individual constituents. the relief of persons in need resident in the area of benefit who are sick, convalescent, disabled or infirm by relieving their suffering or assisting recovery. for the advancement of education. educational purposes to male persons under 25 years living in bristol. for educational purposes. for educational purposes for educational purposes. for educational purposes payments to bristol sailors home to accommodate destitute old or disabled sailors in bristol; and subject thereto to assist young men to become marine engineers, or for some similar charitable object. a common investment fund established by scheme of the charity commissioners dated 16 january 1967 for the benefit of the charities named in that scheme. almshouses for poor persons who are members of the congregation assembling for religious worship at the lewin's mead unitarian chapel at time of appointment. where no suitable applicant trustees may appoint a duly qualified person who is a member of the congregation of any unitarian chapel within area of the western union of unitarian and free christian churches or a poor person resident in city of bristol.
