the promotion of the minority ethnic voluntary sector in haringey and elsewhere in the uk for the benefit of the public and in particular:1.1 liaising between charities, voluntary organisations government agencies and other groups on relevant issues;1.2 providing training, conferences and seminars on subjects relevant to the efficiency of the voluntary sector.;1.3 identifying needs in the voluntary sector and establishing projects or policies to address them;1.4 assisting in the administration of funding programmes to charities and voluntary organisations, monitoring grants, recommending grants, assisting in application of grants;1.5 providing information to the press and the public on the operation of, or problems encountered by the voluntary sector;1.6 providing services such as legal, accountancy and management services to the voluntary sector;1.7 providing advice and information on fund raising techniques appropriate for voluntary organisations and charities;1.8 acting as a representative of the voluntary sector in relation to government policies and legislation;1.9 advising businesses on charitable giving and encouraging employees to participate in voluntary work;1.10 promoting volunteering in general, offering advice on volunteering issues and providing support and training to volunteers and volunteer placement organisations. 2 to develop the capacity and skills of the members of the socially and economically disadvantaged minority ethnic community, including refugees and asylum seekers, living in haringey and elsewhere in the uk in such a way that they are better able to identify and help meet their needs and to participate more fully in society.3. to promote equality and diversity for the benefit of the public in particular in haringey and north london boroughs.
