a to promote maintain improve and advance education particularly in the area of literature and the written word and the formulation preparation and establishment of schemes to render such education accessible to the public.b to promote the education of children and young people by encouraging an interest in and understanding of literature and the written word and by establishing events and classes for children and young people.c any other public charitable purposes tending to encourage interest in literature which may conveniently be promoted in combination with the aforesaid purpose and which may include encouraging senior citizens and the community in general to participate in events and classes provided by the trust for the purpose of recreation or other leisure-time activities with the object of improving their conditions of life.d to promote such literary education to all age groups in surrounding rural communities by provision of outreach activities and/or convenient community transport to bring such potential participants into sedbergh to attend classes or events.
