1.) to act as a resource for young people in greater merseyside by providing advice and assistance and organising programmes of physical education and other activities as a means of:a) advancing in life and helping young people by developing their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individualsb) advancing educationc) relieving unemploymentd) providing recreational and leisure time activity in the interests of social welfare for people living in the area of benefit who have need by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, poverty or social and economic circumstances, with a view to improving the conditions of life of such persons2.) to promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of greater merseyside and the surrounding area the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants3.) the promotion of equality and diversity for the public benefit by:a) the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of race, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religionb) advancing education and raising awareness in equality and diversityc) promoting activities to foster understanding between people from diverse backgrounds d) conducting or commissioning research on equality and diversity issues and publishing results to the publice) cultivating a sentiment in favour of equality and diversity4.) the relief of financial hardship, either generally or individually, for people living in greater merseyside by making grants of monies for providing or paying for items services or facilities.
