1 to promote the protection of individuals and communities from the effects of human conflict, and in particular but without limitation from landmines and unexploded ordnance;2 to provide rehabilitative support to individuals and communities that have been affected by human conflict, and in particular but without limitation by landmines and unexploded ordnance;3 to educate the public, decision makers, policy makers, researchers and the national and interntional media about the humanitarian, developmental, medical and human rights impact of different weapon technologies;4 to build the capacity of civil society and governments to assess, control and alleviate the effects of different weapon technologies; and5 to encourage and support the improvement, universalisation and full implementation of national and interntional legislation to improve protection for civilians from the effects of different weapon technologies and to further encourage and support the improvement, universalisation and full implementation of any legislation which would otherwise assist in the furtherance of these objects.
