(1) to further or benefit the residents of carlisle and, in particular, theneighbourhood, commonly known as stanwix (i.e. the electoral wards ofstanwix urban and stanwix rural) without distinction of sex, sexualorientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associatingtogether the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and otherorganisations in a common effort to advance education and to providefacilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation leisure timeoccupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for theresidents.(2) to establish or secure the establishment of a community centre and tomaintain or manage or co-operate with any statutory authority in themaintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted bythe charity in furtherance of the above object.
