to promote sustainable development for the benefit of the public by promoting the use of fuel efficient cooking stoves in malawi, namibia, nigeria, tanzania, uganda and zambia. in particular stoveaid aims to;a promote the preservation, conservation and the protection of the environment and the prudent use of resources, via the promotion of fuel efficient cooking stoves which significantly reduce fuel consumption and therefore reduce both carbon emissions and deforestation;b promote the relief of poverty and the improvement of the conditions of life in socially and economically disadvantaged communities, via the promotion of fuel efficient cooking stoves. the use of such stoves can significantly reduce spending on fuel and improve cooking conditions by reducing cooking smoke, also thereby decreasing health problems caused by cooking smoke; andc advance the education of the public regarding the use of fuel efficient cooking stoves, and sustainable development, the environmental and health benefits of using such stoves, in particular by promoting research in this area, provided that the useful results of such studies are disseminated to the public at large. sustainable development means 'development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.'
