"3.1 to promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical andnatural environment anywhere in the united kingdom and insofar as may becharitable according to the laws of england and wales in other parts of th eworld;3.2 to create, provide, improve and/or maintain, and own open spaces, woodlandsand forests for the benefit of the public to be used as areas of informalrecreation, play, sport or other leisure time activities and for any other purposeconsistent with this object and for the benefit of the community anywhere in theunited kingdom;3.3 to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure timeoccupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for those living orworking anywhere in the united kingdom;3.4 to advance public education in environmental matters and other ways of betterconserving, protecting and improving the physical and natural environment;3.5 to promote sustainable development for the benefit of the public by thepreservation, conservation and the protection of the environment and theprudent use of natural resources and the promotion of biological diversity;3.6 to advance the education of the public in subjects relating to sustainabledevelopment and the protection, enhancement and rehabilitation of theenvironment;(sustainable development means ""development which meets the needs of thepresent without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their ownneeds"".)3.7 to promote the voluntary sector for the benefit of the public by supporting localcommunity based groups to maintain open spaces, woodlands and forests for thebenefit of the public to be used as areas of informal recreation, play or otherleisure time activities and for any other purpose consistent with this object andfor the benefit of the community anywhere in the united kingdom.3.8 to promote urban and rural regeneration in areas of economic and socialdeprivation by all or any of the following means:3.8.1 the advancement of education, training or retraining, particularlyamong unemployed people, and providing unemployed people withwork experience;3.8.2 the maintenance, improvement or provision of public amenities;3.8.3 the provision or assistance in the provision of recreational facilities forthe public at large and/or those who, by reason of their youth, age,infirmity or disablement, poverty or social and economiccircumstances, have need of such facilities:3.8.4 the protection or conservation of the environment."
