Objects:
1) to promote for the benefit of the public, the provision of services directed towards the mediation, conciliation and reconciliation of individuals or groups involved or likely to be involved in disputes or interpersonal conflicts both generally and, in particular, in any situation where that dispute or interpersonal conflict may lead to acts of violence, nuisance, racial abuse, community disharmony, unlawful activity or breakdown of public order including by the provision of training, support, conflict resolution (including mediation) and facilitation to such individuals or groups; 2) the advancement of education, in particular but not exclusively, amongst young people under 25 years of age, in the purposes and methods of mediation, conciliation and reconciliation of disputes, including conflict transformation approaches, and the understanding of the nature and causes of disputes or conflicts and of all the means of managing them for the purposes of peaceful resolution in the interests of good citizenship and community relations. 3) the promotion of racial and religious harmony for the public benefit by promoting knowledge, mutual understanding and respect between different racial groups and between persons of different faiths, in particular, through the use of conflict transformation approaches to lessen conflict between such groups and persons.4) a conflict transformation approach recognises the systemic nature of all community conflict, and suggests that long-term sustainable transformation of community conflict must address power inequalities whilst also engaging with a web of relationship-building/re-building relations.
