Objects:
(i) to promote sustainable development for the benefit of the public by(a) the preservation, conservation and the protection of the environment and the prudent use of resources;(b) the relief of poverty and the improvement of the conditions of life in socially and economically disadvantaged communities;(c) the promotion of sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration;such that sustainable development means development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs;(ii) to advance the education of the public in subjects relating to sustainable development and the protection, enhancement and rehabilitation of the environment and to promote, for the public benefit, study and research in such subjects, including, but not limited to, biodiversity, ecological systems, environmental management, renewable energy, waste management, protection of endangered species, harms of deforestation and causes of environmental degradation;(iii) to relieve financial hardship, distress and suffering among poor people, widows, orphans, refugees, victims of natural and man-made disasters and other people in need, by means of, but not exclusively, making grants for providing or paying for items, equipment, services and facilities, including the provision of food, water, clothing, medical treatment, rehabilitation, and accommodation for the said persons.
