gold medal every two years in recognition of research of outstanding merit contributing to the furtherance of the society's objects. to assist in providing a lecture on some aspect of society's objects. the aim of the denis burkitt fund is to encourage the study of non-communicable disease in africa and to strengthen the research capacity of indiviuals or institutions in the country where the project is located. the aim of the garnham fellowship will be to encourage field studies on new aspects of medical or veterinary parasitology among young scientists and physicians the society's objects are to promote health and advance the study, control and prevention of disease in man and other animals in the tropics and in disadvantaged communities around the globe by facilitating discussion and the exchange of information among those who are interested in disease of such communities.
