"1) the promotion of social inclusion for the public benefit among children and adults that are socially excluded, particularly within disrupted societies, by providing culturally sensitive services for education; health and social care; vocational training; and the building of self-confidence, self-sufficiency and community cohesion.2) to promote sustainable development within disrupted societies and their physical environment for the benefit of the public by:a) the preservation, conservation and the protection of the environment and the prudent use of resources;b) the relief of poverty and the improvement of the conditions of life;c) the promotion of sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration.3) to advance the education of the public in subjects relating to:a) the causes and effects of social exclusion within the context of social disruption;b) sustainable development and the protection, enhancement and rehabilitation of the environment;and to promote study and research in such subjects provided that the useful results of such study are disseminated to the public at large.4) to develop the capacity and skills of members of disrupted societies in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society.in the clauses above: 1) ""disrupted societies"" means those societies, anywhere in the world, that are suffering from or recovering from a severe breakdown of social and economic life as a result of one of more of the following factors: violent conflict, population displacement, disease, or natural or other kind of disaster.2) ""socially excluded"" means being excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of one of more of the following factors: poverty, hiv/aids, ill health (physical or mental), disability, age, stigma and discrimination, lack of family or social support, physical isolation, abuse, being a child kept from school, poor self-worth or self-confidence, or poor educational or skills attainment.3) ""sustainable development"" means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. "
