Objects:
4.1 the objects of the charity are, for the benefit of the public, specifically restricted to:4.1.1 advancing and supporting the objects of the british library board as set out in section 1 of the british library act 1972 including (but not limited to):4.1.1.1 advancing understanding and appreciation of, and promoting access to, the british library collections;4.1.1.2 promoting and supporting the british library as a national centre for reference, study and bibliographical and other information services, in relation both to scientific and technological matters and to the humanities; 4.1.1.3 promoting the availability of the services of the british library in particular for the time being to institutions of education and learning, other libraries and industry; and4.1.1.4 promoting and advancing the development and good stewardship of the british library collections. 4.1.2 advancing and supporting the efficient management of other libraries, library facilities and information services the support of which would be conducive or complementary to the work of the british library.4.1.3 for the avoidance of doubt (and without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing), the trustees may fulfill the objects, or any one of them, by making grants or distributions to the british library board or any other person, body or institution as the trustees in their absolute discretion see fit.
