i give absolutely and free of tax a legacy of five hundred thousand pounds (£500,000) ('the trust fund') to my trustees upon trust to apply the income and all or such part of the capital at such time or times and in such manner as my trustees may in their absolute discretion think fit towards either sussex historic churches trust ('shct') of canon gate house canon lane chichester west sussex po19 1pu (registered charity number 282159) or any other charitable organisations offering the repair and maintenance of churches in the counties of west sussex and east sussex (any such organisation being hereinafter called 'a like charity') and such income and capital is to be applied for the benefit of such churches as the trustees of shct (or the trustees of a like charity) in their absolute discretion think fit and the trust hereby created shall be referred to in this my will as 'the spiller trust' and known as such for all other purposes.
