the objects of this charity are for the public benefit:(a) to prevent poverty, financial hardship and crime;(b) to advance the education of the public in prison reform and in the sciences of penology and criminology, social health, welfare and constructive treatment of offenders;(c) to advance the education of the public in the life and works of charles dickens by such charitable means as the trustees see fit; and(d) to advance the education of young people in particular in the uk by providing greater access to the works of charles dickens; subsidising tickets of public theatre performances of his works and subsidising the cost of books embodying his works for schools in the uk.in furthering these objects the trustees will make grants to individuals, charities and other institutions in the uk that further a charitable purpose or purposes that support or further these purposes for the public benefit.
