1.to promote, encourage, maintain, improve and advance research into the consequences of homicide, provided that the useful results of such research will be disseminated for the public benefit. 2.to relieve the needs of persons in need by reason of being affected by homicide, in particular, but not exclusively by the provision of therapeutic activities and therapeutic interventions, and support, such as cognitive and emotional education, normalisation, behavioural activity, advice and signposting. 3.to promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people affected by homicide from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society. for the purpose of this clause ‘socially excluded’ means being excluded from society, or parts of society, for those affected by homicide as a result of one or more of the following factors: unemployment; financial hardship; ill health (physical or mental); substance abuse or dependency including alcohol and drugs; relationship and family breakdown; and crime, specifically homicide.
