a. the protection and preservation of the environment for the public benefit by:i. the promotion of waste reduction, re-use reclamation, recycling, use of recycled products and the use of surplus;ii. advancing the education of the public about all aspects of waste generation, waste management and waste recycling.b. the promotion of sustainable development for the benefit of the public by:i. the preservation, conservation and the protection of the environment and the prudent use of natural resources;ii. the relief of poverty and the improvement of the conditions of life in socially and economically disadvantaged communities;iii. the promotion of sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration.sustainable development means ?development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.?c. the promotion for the benefit of the public of urban or rural regeneration in areas of social and economic deprivation (and in particular in north west england) by all or any of the following means:i. the relief of unemployment;ii. the advancement of education, training or retraining, particularly among unemployed people, and providing unemployed people with work experience;iii. the protection or conservation of the environment.
