the objects of the charity are: (a) to advance the education of the general public in the appreciation of the visual arts in all their forms and to promote the arts for the public benefit by providing and encouraging free access to the visual arts for all, regardless of age, colour, creed, sexuality or physical disabilities by breaking down the barrier to the arts for the community in general and in particular those individuals who have, to date, seen the arts world (and related venues including art galleries and theatres) as alien, unknown and unwelcoming; and(b) to promote the arts for the public benefit in particular by supporting artists from deprived and unsupported backgrounds and/or with mental or physical disabilities to become self supporting by assisting with working studio space, professional support, guidance, training and encouragement in an environment designed to facilitate their development within the professional arts community and wider social community. in furtherance of the charity’s charitable purposes, artstrail studios (the “charity”) will undertake the following additional activities or exercise the following powers for the public benefit: (a) lease previously empty and unoccupied retail unit in the high street or shopping centre to create the arts hub in the locality. (b) create a permanent “open door” , by running on going art events to i) welcome newcomers and ii) ensure that they feel comfortable and confident and iii) to encourage them to return. (c) act as an arts hub for the visual arts in the locality, linking artists, arts groups, local institutions and community organisations. (d) provide training and work experience in conjunction with local educational establishments in the arts or arts related activities.(e) foster the development of new talent in the visual arts and present their work in front of (and for the benefit of) the general public.(f) encourage professional practice in all aspects of the visual arts through services and training to artists in need of assistance. (g) assist and facilitate necessitous artists of promise in the continuance of their work (h) promote racial, sexual, and physical equality in the visual arts (i) guarantee public access to the artist’s hub for the purposes of engaging with the artists and to participate in workshops and classes run by member artists. (j) establish and provide exhibition space at the studio and in local pubs, cafes and restaurants, organizing and presenting visual art exhibitions, including periodic exhibitions of either a charity or non-member nature, using visual arts created by artist members and the general public (k) organize and sponsor educational courses, lectures and discussions, trips, research visits and events and other opportunities in the visual arts for artist members and the general public; and(l) promote arts exchange programmes for artists and the public in other countries.
