to advance in life and relieve the needs of d/deaf children and young people up to the age of 19 living in cheshire, halton and warrington, coda’s (children of deaf adults), hearing family members, friends and peers through:(a) the provision of recreational and leisure time activities provided in the interest of social welfare, designed to improve their conditions of life; and(b) providing support and activities which develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals.in this clause, the word “deaf” (with a capital d) is used to describe an individual whose first or preferred method of communication is british sign language (bsl), while the term d/deaf – now widely recognised by care service professionals – refers to everyone with a hearing loss: deaf, deaf, deafblind, hard-of-hearing and deafblind people.
