the objects of the cio are as follows:1. to promote the preservation, conservation and protection of africa’s wildlife and natural heritage, including by advancing the education of the public in the preservation, conservation and protection of africa’s wildlife and natural heritage.2. to promote sustainable development in africa for the benefit of the public by:(a) the prudent use of resources;(b) the relief of poverty and the improvement of the conditions of life in socially and economically disadvantaged communities; and(c) the promotion of sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration.sustainable development means “development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”3. such other purposes for the benefit of the public as shall be exclusively charitable as the trustees from time to time may determine.nothing in this constitution shall authorise an application of the property of the cio for purposes which are not charitable in accordance with section 7 of the charities and trustee investment (scotland) act 2005 and section 2 of the charities act (northern ireland) 2008.
