for the public benefit to promote the art of literature and to advance public education in the art of literature in particular but not exclusively by:(1) the promotion and preservation of select works of classic african literature;(2) the promotion of classic literary work written by authors of african origin;(3) the award of an annual prize;(4) the creation of a residency programme for artists to pursue the art of african literature and advance their education in the art of african literature.nothing in this constitution shall authorise an application of property of the cio for the purposes which are not charitable in accordance with section 7 of the charities and trustee investment (scotland) act 2005 and section 2 of the charities act (northern ireland) 2008.
