- the prevention or relief of poverty in the parish of east bergholt and surrounding areas by providing: grants, items and services to individuals in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty;- to develop the capacity and skills of the members of the socially and economically disadvantaged community of the parish of east bergholt and surrounding areas in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society;- to promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of the parish of east bergholt and surrounding areas the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants;- to provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their conditions of life;- to relieve the poverty of young people by the provision of grants to enable them to participate in healthy recreational activities that they could not otherwise afford;- to advance the education of pupils attending schools, nurseries and other places of education in the parish of east bergholt by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education and recreation at those places.
