the promotion of good health of premature babies and their families. in furtherance of this object but not otherwise the cio has power to do the following:• to promote awareness and understanding around premature birth, benefiting both the public and parents affected following a stay in neonatal intensive care.• to advance the support offered to parents of premature babies following a hospital stay in the uk, providing guidance to local health visiting teams and general practitioners in recognising the unique needs of families of babies born too soon. • to promote more time for mother and baby to bond following premature birth and to relieve the incidence of postnatal depression, anxiety and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder associated with neonatal intensive care.
