for the public benefit to promote humane behaviour towards animals in the uk and overseas by providing appropriate care, protection, treatment and security for animals which are in need of care and attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances or ill usage, in particular but not exclusively through:a) the provision of financial assistance to people who are unable to afford the services of a veterinary surgeon; andb) the provision of equipment or grants of financial assistance to organisations whom the trustees consider to be making a significant contribution to animal welfare through rehabilitation, rescue and/or veterinary care.
