the charity’s objects (‘the objects’) arethe promotion of equality and diversity for the public benefit in eastbourne and thesurrounding area by:-(a) in particular, but not exclusively, promoting and staging an annual lgbt festival andevents to promote equality and diversity;(b) cultivating a sentiment in favour of equality and diversity in particular through celebratingthe diversity of the lgbt community in the area of benefit;(c) uniting the lgbt community, together with their families and friends, so they can feel safe,welcomed and proud to be themselves at events;(d) advancing education and raising general awareness among the public about the issues andchallenges facing the lives of the lgbt community in the area of benefit;lgbt stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, and refers to sexualorientation and gender re-assignment, both protected characteristics under the equality act2010 (http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/equalities/equality-act/).[nothing in this constitution shall authorise an application of theproperty of the charity for purposes, which are not charitable inaccordance with section 7 of the charities and trustee investment(scotland) act 2005 and/or section 2 of the charities act (northernireland) 2008.
