"the objects of the cio are, for the public benefit, to advance public health and to advance public education in relation to traumatic injuries to the human brain by:-1) sponsoring research into traumatic brain injury (""tbi"") and disseminating the useful results of such research;2) raising awareness of the particular features of tbi in military situations, sponsoring research in this field, and providing information and support to the families and communities of ex-service personnel suffering from this condition. 3) raising awareness of the dangers of sporting activities as a cause of tbi and promoting safe practices in sport in order to reduce tbi;4) relieving in any charitable manner people who have suffered from tbi, by the provision of supportive care, rehabilitative processes, medical treatment, neuropsychological services.""traumatic brain injury"" includes the long term effects of tbi such as chronic traumatic encephalopathy and other resulting neurodegenerative conditions"
