to promote the efficiency of the armed forces of the crown and promote good citizenship amongst the public by:a) raising funds in order to create a stonework extension to the existing stalybridge war memorial to accommodate approximately 300 names of servicemen killed during the first world war who were not included on the original monument, and to add names of those killed in other conflicts since 1945;b) creating a focal point for remembrance;c) advancing education by improving the collective knowledge of war and its casualties for schools and the general public.
