the promotion of the effective use of charitable resources of performing arts archives whose collections are open to the public and are operated on a not-for-profit basis with the aim of advancing the arts and its heritage for the benefit of the public by:1 advocating the widest possible engagement in performing arts heritage collections by the general public;2 promoting the historical importance of collections to regional and national communities and increase public awareness of the need to preserve such collections for the future;3 providing a forum for the exchange and dissemination of information, expertise and best practice in performing arts collections and heritage organisations; and4 assisting with the development of skills in documenting and promoting the performing arts, to enable better safeguards and thus greater access to all potential users.
