to promote and protect the good health of people in deprived or developing areas of the world who are at risk of neglected tropical diseases, in particular by:a) increasing awareness of neglected tropical diseases and their symptoms;b) increasing the level of early diagnosis and early treatment by providing diagnostic tests, associated information, technology and medical equipment for the diagnosis of neglected tropical diseases;c) improving the knowledge of neglected tropical diseases, particularly as it relates to their diagnosis and management of their pathogenesis, natural history and prevention;d) improving diagnostic methods;e) promoting high standards in laboratory diagnosis through quality assessment activities and education; andf) funding leading diagnostic and treatment research into neglected tropical diseases , where there is a shortfall in other funding sources, or where pioneering research cannot be funded by other sources, and publishing the useful results of that research in order to increase the level of early diagnosis and early treatment and improve treatment outcomes
