the object of the cio is: to promote, sustain and increase individual and collective knowledge and understanding amongst hand surgeons, hand therapists and other healthcare providers or practitioners and the general public, of wide awake hand surgery, otherwise known as wide awake local anaesthesia no tourniquet (hereto referred to as walant) for the benefit of their patients. the education of these healthcare providers will benefit the public directly. the cio will achieve this aim primarily using the charity’s website (https://walant.surgery) but also by delivering education at conferences, courses and other events as well as using local, national and social media, including linkedin, facebook and twitter. the cio will primarily be used to educate healthcare professionals on the benefits of and techniques employed during walant surgery or the rehabilitation of patients after walant surgery. the cio will also aim to promote the benefits of walant directly to the public.
