(1) the provision and maintenance of almshouses for the benefit of persons who are in need of housing due to lack of means or financial hardship and who are current or former residents of the parishes of escrick and deighton (the area of benefit). in the event of a vacancy arising which cannot be filled by such a person resident or formerly resident in the area of benefit, this may be extended to such persons from surrounding parishes and beyond.(2) such charitable purposes for the benefit of the residents in the almshouses of the cio or any of them and in such manner as the charity trustees think fit from time to time.
