the objects of cio are: the prevention or relief of poverty for the public benefit, in particular by making or giving grants, items or services by way of financial assistance or other activity as the charity trustees shall in any duly constituted meeting from time to time direct, to or for the benefit of: i) current employees of james cropper plc, and ii) former employees who have retired from james cropper plc (but not otherwise resigned or been removed from employment) in england and wales, and their spouses, parents, children and grandchildren, the trustees must use the income and may use the capital of the charity in promoting the objects. nothing in this constitution shall authorise an application of the property of the cio for the purposes which are not charitable in accordance with section 7 of the charities and trustee investment (scotland) act 2005 and section 2 of the charities act (northern ireland) 2004.
