to advance the education of the public in general (and particularly amongst individuals with science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (stemm) background) in biology and engineering, and the interaction between the two, through the provision of talks, training courses on use of scientific equipment, workshops and project-based learning opportunities and by providing facilities for these educational activities to occur.to advance science for the public benefit in areas of research in both biology and engineering by providing individuals, in particular those with a stemm background, access to facilities and equipment to gain practical experience and to collaborate and carry out research which would otherwise be denied them.
