3.1. the objects of the cio are:3.1.1. to advance the catholic faith for the benefit of the public in accordance with catholic social teaching: dignity, solidarity, the common good, options for the poor, peace, care for creation, dignity of work, participation.3.1.2. to relieve the mental and physical sickness of persons resident in united kingdom suffering from bereavement or loss by the provision of counselling and support for such persons.3.1.3. to promote education and research in the subject of fertility and pregnancy and the termination of pregnancy and into its effects on women, whether physical, medical, psychological or social; to provide advice treatment and assistance for women who are suffering from any physical or mental illness or distress as a result of fertility or infertility.3.1.4. the prevention or relief of poverty in local communities through the united kingdom by providing items and services to individuals in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.3.1.5. the promotion of social inclusion, by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society. for the purpose of this clause socially excluded means being excluded from society, or part of society, as a result of one or more of the following factors: financial hardship; loneliness; isolation; youth or old age; or ill health (physical or mental).
