the objects of the cio are: -a. the prevention or relief of poverty or financial hardship, specifically but not limited to the neighbouring countries of eritrea by providing grants, items and support to individuals in need and / or other charities and organisations, sponsoring of orphans and assisting in the provision of education, training, healthcare projects and all the necessary support designed to enable the poor, needy and refugee communities and individuals to subsist and generate a sustainable income to become self-sufficient.b. the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life of those persons who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances, in the interests of social welfare. nothing in this constitution shall authorise an application of the property of the cio for the purposes which are not charitable in accordance with section 7 of the charities and trustee investment (scotland) act 2005 and section 2 of the charities act (northern ireland) 2008.
