the objects of the cio are to advance the education of the public in the history, heritage and culture of hebden bridge, the upper calder valley and surrounding areas through, but not exclusively: 1. running an annual programme of historical talks and events for members and visitors2. acquiring and preserving relevant local historical documents, publications and other material and making these available to members and the public 3. supporting individuals and groups researching the history of the local area4. publishing works on the local history of the area in print and digitally5. providing advice on matters affecting local heritage6. working in partnership with individuals, communities and other local history groups and societies, where appropriate
