the objects of the cio are, for the public benefit: (1) to advance education by promoting the art and practice and public performance of music, particularly but not exclusively by encouraging participation of composers, performers and producers of music who come from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the music industry; and (2) the promotion of equality and diversity for the public benefit by: a. helping people working in the composition, performance or production of music to overcome discrimination on the grounds of race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, sexual identity diversity, neurodiversity or religion; b. promoting activities to foster understanding between people from diverse backgrounds; c. cultivating a sentiment in favour of equality and diversity.
